Tapering fluted stems with beaded borders and detachable drip pans, circular foot, the candelabra with leaf-capped scroll branches and urn finial, the drip pans and bases engraved with a monogram and royal badge, The script initials are for Jane, Vicountess Melville, loaded bases, height of candlesticks 29cm and of one candelabra 37cm.     Lady Jane Hope was baptised on 18 December 1766 at Abercorn, West Lothian, Scotland, daughter of John Hope, 2nd Earl of Hopetoun and Jane Oliphant.
    She married, firstly, Henry Dundas, 1st Viscount Melville of Melville, son of Robert Dundas, Lord Arniston and Anne Gordon, on 2 April 1793. As a result of her marriage, Lady Jane Hope was styled as Viscountess Melville of Melville.

    Following the viscount's death in 1811 she married secondly, Thomas Wallace, 1st Baron Wallace on 16 February 1814
    She died on 9 June 1829 at age 62, without issue.

    One drip pan is engraved with the coronet, motto ESSAYEZ and face of a lion , this is also for Dundas, Viscounts Melville.
