Bonhams Fine Wine Sale in San Francisco on Friday 22 September features several collections with exceptional provenance – many of the wines were purchased directly by mailing list or as futures.

The leading collections include:

The Bay Collection. The first part of two offerings from an outstanding lineup of wines from California and the classic wine-growing areas of France. All the lots were taken from professional wine storage and bought upon release. They include a case of Hundred Acre Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 'Few and Far Between' (est US$3,800-4,800), and a case of Château Pavie 2005 (est US$6,000-8.000).

Director's Cut, featuring 11 separate lots of Screaming Eagle three-packs in wooden presentation cases from vintages between 1996- 2014, ranging in estimate from US$4,800-6,000 for 2011 to US$6,500-8,500 for 2010.

The Saratoga Cellar which boasts an impressive range of lots from major Champagne houses. A magnum of Dom Pérignon 1978 is estimated at US$2,000-2,800 and a bottle of Krug 1989 Clos de Mesnil at US$1,100-,1,400.

The Tiburon Cellar offers first class wines from Bordeaux which have been stored in a beautiful custom-built home cellar. Highlights include a case of Château Cheval Blanc 1998 (est US$5,000-7,000), a case of Château Pavie 1998 at US$3,800-4,800.
